although i was still rather sick with a cough and cold, we managed to make a really good mini-weekend together. we made a delicious meal over the fire of pork chops and cheesy egg noodles. we sat around, joked, and told stories over some tasty shock top beer.
in the morning, we wandered around the state park, through some crazy veiled trees, out by the "beach" and around the grounds. we came back early in the afternoon to nap and recuperate.
on the drive home, we stopped at this random energy conservation place that for some reason happened to house the large worshiping figures from burning man a few years ago (see: http://chokeholdtightens.blogspot.com/2007/09/week-in-desert.html).
that night, josh and i got fancied up and went out to dinner at a really great italian place downtown. on the way back down to our place, josh drove us in the opposite direction a ways until we ended up in front of the palace of fine arts. let me tell you, if you have not seen this place at night, you should definitely check it out some time. the dome that during the day sparkles gold in the sun, is illuminated beautifully in the darkness highlighting the earthy reds and golds of the structure.
as i spun appreciatively around in the middle of the dome, i stopped to find josh on one knee with a ring in hand. .. !
and i of course said 'yes!'
we have not set a date nor have we really started planning at all, but i am so excited to call him my fiancé!
